BS 8901 (British Standard for sustainable events management)
"An enduring, balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility and social progress": this is the British Standard Institute's definition of sustainability.
This sentence contains all the three factors that benefit from sustainable events: profit, the planet, and people. BS8901 is a standard for professionals in the meetings industry and sets out the criteria to make an event sustainable.
By following the suggested procedures you ensure that common aims of sustainability are pursued during the planning phase, during the event itself and in the post-event management. These procedures are inspected by third-party certificators using concrete, objective data to measure the green policies adopted.
