"Promoting a European framework for corporate social responsibility"
presented by the Commission of the European Union (Brussels 18.07.2001)
The Green Paper may be considered as both a connecting link and a handbook for companies that have decided to commit themselves freely to promoting new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies.
The European Union has undertaken to draw up a Charter of basic rights, which will speak up for common values and objectives - environmental, social and cultural.
This document does not represent a legalistic set of rules, with obligations to be imposed and observed, but rather it is an invitation.
One decisive step to make these socially responsible practices effective is that of communication between companies, as well as the drawing up of a program with well-defined objectives to be measured and compared over time.
