Greenwash
Let's take the case of a well-known American company, Raython - one of the leading companies for spreading CSR values in terms of conditions of work and of its collaborators. If we go into it in more detail, however, we find that its products include Stinger and Tomahawk missiles, which have caused an enormous number of victims in war-torn territories.
Greenwashing is substantially an unjustified appropriation by companies and industries of environmental virtues, with the aim of creating a positive image of themselves and of their products, or to distract attention from their responsibilities towards the environment.
In the study "Six Sins of Greenwashing", published by TerraChoice in 2007, 99% of over 1000 products in daily use that were subjected to examination turned out to be guilty of at least one of the six forms of greenwashing identified.
